Newcastle will be seeking to extend their resurgent form in the Premier League when they host Brighton at St James’ Park for their matchday 28 fixture on Saturday evening with kickoff at 18:00.
Newcastle are currently enjoying a positive run of form in the Premier League and head into the match off the back of a crucial 2-0 win against Brentford last weekend at away. The victory saw them quickly bounce back from a 1-1 draw against West Ham, which ended their three-match winning streak.
The Magpies are now unbeaten in their last six Premier League matches, claiming four victories and two draws in the run. As result Newcastle have risen into the 14th spot in the league standings with 25 points from 25 games, five points above the relegation zone and eight outside the top-half.
They will be looking to maintain their resurgence with another positive result as they now aim at getting closer to the middle of the table.
Meanwhile Brighton were left empty handed again in the Premier League when they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa at the Amex Stadium last weekend. The defeat was Brighton’s third consecutive defeat, while they have managed to pick up just six points from the last 21 available.
However, with all the recent struggles the Seagulls still sit in the 10th spot on 33 points from 26 matches, three points above the 11th-placed Crystal Palace and two behind Southampton in the ninth.
Therefore they will be looking to avoid a fourth consecutive defeat as they aim consolidating their place in the 10 ten. They will fancy their chances having not lost to Newcastle in their last nine Premier league matches, claiming four victories in the run. However, with Newcastle’s current form it will be challenging for the Seagulls to burst their bubble.
