Newcastle United will be looking to extend their Premier League winning streak to three matches on the spin when they welcome Aston Villa to St James’ Park on Sunday evening with kickoff at 17:00.
Newcastle united are coming off a 3-1 win over Frank Lampard’s Everton in the Premier League, with first half own goal from Mason Holgate and second half goals from Ryan Fraser and the experienced Kieran Trippier sealing the deal for Eddie Howe’s side.
The win was crucial for the Magpies as it marked their first time they have claimed back-to-back victories in the Premier League this season and most importantly it saw them finally move out of the relegation zone. They currently sit 17th on 18 points with a point above the drop zone and they suddenly now look well poised for a great escape following the recent spending spree and the upturn in results.
Newcastle will therefore look to claim what would be another important three points this Sunday and with a good mood surrounding the St James’ Park we expect another magnificent performance from the hosts.
Meanwhile Aston Villa have been impressive under the management of Steven Gerrard, with the Liverpool legend leading his side to five victories in his 11 league games in charge and they head into the match in a good form as they are unbeaten in their last three top tier matches, including the pulsating 3-3 draw against Leeds in their previous outing.
However, the draw saw them slip out of the top half and down to 11th place and now sit nine points behind the top seven. Therefore, Gerrard’s side will be looking to bounce back in the Sunday’s clashes they aim at getting closer to the European places.
They will fancy their chances as they are unbeaten in their last seven Premier League games against the Magpies and will be looking to do the double over their hosts, although considering the occasion we expect a really close encounter here.
