Napoli have been flying high recently and recorded their third consecutive Serie A victory last Sunday as they beat Atalanta 3-1 at away. They have now lost just one of their last 12 Serie A matches and are one of the leading contenders for the Scudetto this season. However, two draws and a defeat in their last five league matches has seen Fiorentina drop into eighth spot in Serie A standing with now two points adrift of the European spots.
They still time to get themselves into the precious European spots but a win here will be a massive confidence booster for the Violas ahead of the final straight. Also, they need to keep building momentum ahead of the second leg of their Coppa Italia semifinal tie against Juventus.
The last time Fiorentina visited the Maradona they stunned Napoli 5-2 in the last 16 of the Coppa Italia in extra time, following 2-2 draw in the normal time. Therefore, they will confident heading into the clash, also a win could see them break into the European spots and it’s what they will go for.
