Motherwell will look to make two wins out of two when they welcome St Johnstone to Fir Park for their Premiership Matchday two tie on Saturday evening.
Motherwell opened the new campaign positively as they recorded a 1-0 victory at St Mirren last weekend. The win saw them quickly put behind their European disappointment as they were knocked out of the Conference League qualifiers in the second round by Sligo Rovers.
They will now be looking to extend their positive start to the 2022/23 Premiership campaign as they aim to imp3rove on ytheir3 fifth-place finish this season. Last season the two sides claimed four points each from their three encounters, Motherwell winning their home fixture 2-0, and will be hoping for the same this season.
Meanwhile St Johnstone made a poor campaign last season with the side finishing in the promotion-playoff spot in the Premiership. They managed to secure their top-flight status by beating Inverness CT in the playoffs.
However, building up to their opening-day of the new season, Callum Davidson’s side was unable to progress to the knockout rounds of the Scottish League Cup, after winning two and losing two of their four group-stage matches and they subsequently finished third behind lower-league opposition.
Therefore their inconsistency continued last weekend, something they will be desperate to change this weekend as they hope for a better campaign this season.
