Fir Park host Motherwell and Aberdeen for the second weekend in a row as the two sides battle for three points in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday evening with kickoff at 18:00.
The two competed against each other last weekend and Motherwell came out on top, knocking Aberdeen out of the Scottish Cup with a 2-1 victory. The Steelmen fought back from behind with Kevin van Veen and Connor Shields finding the back of the net to send them to next round while Christian Ramirez’s effort for the Dons only proved to be a mere consolation.
Back to the Premiership both sides have made inconsistent campaigns this season and are only separated by three points. Motherwell have recorded nine wins, six draws and 11 defeats from their 26 matches to collect 33 points which have left them sitting in the fifth just one points above the bottom-half, while Aberdeen have recorded eight wins, six draws and 12 defeats from their 16 matches collecting 30 points which have left them sitting in the eight spot with two points outside the top-half.
Both sides head into the match in poor Premiership forms with Motherwell failing to win any of their last six league matches picking up two draws while suffering four defeats in the process and are coming of a 2-0 defeat to Dundee united which explains their drop to the fifth spot.
Meanwhile Aberdeen have not won in their last five league outings picking up two draws while suffering three defeats in the process and are coming off a 1-1 draw against a relegation-threatened St Johnstone. As a result the Dons slipped to their current spot where they sit 10 points above the relegation zone.
Therefore both teams will be looking to bounce back to winning ways in the Premiership with Motherwell looking to avoid a possible drop the bottom-half and will want to also increase the gap between then and their visitors, while Aberdeen will looking to climb into or close to the top-half and will want to catch-up with their hosts.
However, Motherwell will fancy their chances having won both of their previous matches in the league this season against Aberdeen who were unable to find the back of the net on either of the encounters, which is a massive-confidence booster for the hosts.
