Having been on course to at least match last season’s eighth-place finish at the turn of the year, inconsistent form during 2022 has seen Montpellier slip to their current bottom-half position in the Ligue 1 table. Montpellier made it back-to-back Ligue 1 losses last weekend when they did little to hurt Marseille at Orange Velodrome. Montpellier is also too far behind to contest for European qualification but will be keen to improve their recent record of just two wins from their last nine league games.

Meanwhile, Reims arrive travel to La Mosson having gone unbeaten in their last five meetings with Montpellier – keeping clean sheets in three of the last four – but, more recently, have picked up just one point from their last three Ligue 1 outings. Having taken points off Monaco and Strasbourg recently, Oscar Garcia’s men have at least managed to consolidate a mid-table spot in the standings – still sitting nine points clear of the bottom three heading towards the run-in.
Reims suffered 2-3 Ligue 1 defeat at the hands Rennes in their last game. In that match, Reims managed 40% possession and 15 shots with seven of them on target and goals scored by Maxime Busi (60′) and Jens-Lys Cajuste (81′). Rennes got 14 shots with eight of them on target and goals by Benjamin Bourigeaud (39′, 43′) and Martin Terrier (58′).
