Monaco will welcome Sparta Prague to Stade Louis II on Tuesday for the second leg of third qualifying round of the Champions League with kickoff at 21:00.
Monaco holds an advantage over Sparta Prague as they beat them 2-0 in the first leg clash last week at away thanks to goals from Aurelien Tchouameni and Kevin Volland.
The hosts head into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw with Nantes in their Ligue 1 opening fixture on Friday, a match in which Gelson Martins put Monaco ahead in the 14th minute before Jean-Charles Castelletto leveled the score just before halftime.
Monaco will now focus on the Champions League as they aim to go further up the tournament having last played the competition in 2018-19 season where they were eliminated in group stages having finished fourth in Group A.
Monaco are the favorites in the Tuesday’s clash as they are in good form now having only lost one match in their last six matches as well as they have the home advantage.
Meanwhile Sparta Prague will be looking to overturn the two-goal deficit against Monaco as Pavel Vrba’s side aim at qualifying for the Champions League group stages for the first time since the 2005-06 season.
The Reds have had impressive domestic campaigns recently finishing in top two behind Slavia Prague last season and are currently on top of Czech Liga standings with nine points from three matches so far this season.
Many bookies see Monaco as the favorites for this match but Sparta Prague should not be ruled out easily as they are also in a good form having won four of their last six matches across all competitions including the 2-0 win at home against Karvina in Czech Liga 1 match last weekend. Also, they have a great team spirit that will be crucial for this match.
