Monaco and Lyon battle for important three points in a highly anticipated Ligue 1 fixture at the Stade Louis II this Saturday night with kickoff at 23:00.
Monaco have been struggling for consistency this season with the club failing to win consecutive Ligue 1 fixtures since November, while failing to win than three straight games domestically through the season. As a result Les Monegasques find themselves outside the European places as they sit in eighth on 33 points collect from 22 matches.
However, they are just two points outside the top-four and are in high spirits having only lost one of their last seven across all competitions, claiming five wins and one draw in the process and are coming off a 4-2 win against Lens in Coppa de France at away last Sunday. The win saw them bounce back form the heartbreaking 3-2 defeat to Montpellier.
Philippe Clément’s side will therefore be looking to make back-to-back wins on the bounce on Saturday as they aim at overtaking their visitors and braking into the precious European places.
Meanwhile Lyon have been on an upward trajectory recently with the club going unbeaten in their last seven Ligue 1 games while only losing one of their last 11 encounters across all competitions. As a result Les Gones sit in the seventh spot on 34 points collected form their 22 matches and are just a point outside the European places.
Peter Bosz’s side head into the match in high spirts having not lost any of their last eight matches across all competitions, claiming three wins and five draws in the process and are coming off three consecutive Ligue 1 victories against Troyes, Saint-Etienne and Marseille.
Therefore Olympique Lyonnais will be looking to extend their winning streak in the Saturday’s clash as they aim at widening the gap between them and their hosts and breaking into the top-four, making this a very close fixture.
