Meizhou Hakka have an encounter with Shenzhen at the Wuhua Hengpi Football Town on Sunday in the round eight of the 2022 Chinese Super League campaign.
The hosts are looking to record consecutive wins for the first time since the turn of the year, while the visitors aim to end a run of three matches without a win.
Meizhou Hakka managed to claim a first win in four games through an impressive 4-1 thrashing of Cangzhou Mighty Lions on Wednesday.
They raced to a commanding lead at half time through goals from Rade Dugalic and Rodrigo Henrique before Nebojsa Kosovic and Hongbon Yin grabbed second-half goals to confirm the victory.
Having picked up 10 points from a possible 21 this season, Meizhou have moved up to seventh place in the standings, and things are looking up once again.
They now face the challenge of an opposing side who have lost just one of the last six meetings between the teams, winning the other five by a combined score of 13-3.
However, the solitary defeat in that time came in the most recent meeting on June 13 when Meizhou Hakka claimed a dramatic 2-1 victory.
Meanwhile, Shenzhen just about came up short in a thrilling 3-2 clash with Tianjin Jinmen Tiger at the Meixian Tsang Hin-Chi Stadium on Wednesday.
The Youth Army led 2-1 at half time through goals from Lin Gao and Yue Xu either side of Dun Ba’s strike, but Ba found his second of the game just before the hour mark before Robert Beric compeleted the turnaround midway through the second half.
Lee Jang-Soo’s side currently occupy 10th place in the league standings but would leapfrog Meizhou Hakka should they manage to claim all three points, and they will need to keep things tight at the back if they are to achieve that.

Meizhou Hakka news
Meizhou Hakka’s Nebojsa Kosovic has been directly involved in six of his side’s 10 goals, and he will be aiming to add on to his tally on Sunday.
Hongbo Yin could be rewarded with a starting appearance this weekend after he came off the bench to good effect last time out.
Shenzhen news
Shenzhen’s Wai-Tsun Dai has recorded the most assists so far – with four – making the midfielder one to keep an eye on.
Lin Gao found the back of the net on his return to the starting XI, and the 36-year-old should get the nod to feature right from the onset once again.
Prediction and Odds
The teams head into the contest separated in the league standings only on goal difference, which suggests that a tight affair is expected in this one.
However, following their impressive 4-1 victory over Cangzhou Mighty Lions last time out, we are tipping the hosts to claim another home victory on Sunday.
