Premier League reigning champions Manchester City will look to return to winning ways when they welcome Crystal Palace to Etihad for their Matchday four tie on Saturday. Manchester City began their defence of the Premier League strongly as they won their opening two matches against West Ham (2-0) and Bournemouth (4-0), but they failed to follow maintain the 100% start last time out as they drew 3-3 with Newcastle United. City opened the scoring through Gundogan, but they were quickly pegged back and fell 3-1 down before efforts from Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva salvaged them a point at St James Park. Even though City failed to claim maximum points last weekend, they showed through character of a champion as they fought back from a 3-1 deficit, and Pep Guardiola will encourage his side to build on that as they seek to come back on Saturday. Guardiola’s side are a hard side to beat at Etihad and have already claimed a 4-0 win over Bournemouth in their only home fixture so far, which extended their unbeaten run at home to five league matches stretching back to last season. They should therefore be confident of extending the run on Saturday. They however face Crystal Palace who already held Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at Anfield this season. Despite falling to a 2-0 on the opening day, Palace found their spark in the 1-1 draw at Anfield as they followed that with their first win of the season against Aston Villa. Villa struck first, but a brace from Wilfred Zaha and a goal from saw the Eagles complete a 3-1 comeback on the day. They followed that up with a 2-0 win at Oxford United in the in the League Cup on Wednesday. They have now won their last two matches and they will be looking to keep the momentum going on Saturday as they look to get points off the reigning champions.
