Tottenham will be looking to extend their winning streak in the Premier League when they welcome Newcastle United to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for their league Matchday 31 on Sunday evening with kickoff at 18:30.
Tottenham are really pushing for a top four finish this season as they have now claimed four victories from their last five Premier League matches and they rose to fifth in the table with a well-deserved 3-1 victory against London rivals West Ham before the international break.
The victory saw the Lilywhites move to within three points of fourth-placed Arsenal who have played one match less.
However, with Arsenal facing a potential banana skin at Crystal Palace on Monday, Spur could see this as a chance to up the heat on the Gunners. Also, with a relatively easy set of fixture to navigate from here until the end of the season, Antonio Conte’s men will fancy their chances of snatching the top-four spot.
Meanwhile Newcastle United have been on resurgence since January, with an impressive run of form putting a fair amount of distance between themselves and the relegation zone. They currently sit 14th on 31 points from 29 matches, eight points above the 18th-placed Watford.
However, the Magpies have now suffered back-to-back 1-0 defeats to Chelsea and Everton and it would be a huge shock if they were pulled back into any sort of trouble over the next few weeks. Eddie Howe will therefore be hoping that the international break was helpful for his side to regroup and he want them to get back on the track.
