Both Brentford and Southampton will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they square off at Brentford Community Stadium in their Premier League Matchday 36 tie on Saturday evening with kickoff at 17:00.
Brentford’s recent resurgence was brought to a halt last Monday as they fell to a 3-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford. Before that, the Bee were on a four-match unbeaten run, claiming three wins against Chelsea (1-4), West Ham (2-0), Watford (1-2) and a 0-0 draw against Tottenham.
Brentford currently sit 14th level on points with both Aston Villa and Southampton who sit 13th and 15th respectively, some eight points above Everton who occupy the last relegation spot. However, Everton have two games in hand meaning that if they are to capitalize on the two Thomas Frank’s side could be in the risk of being dragged into a last minute relegation battle.
To make sure that they stand a better chance for survival the Bees need to win all their remaining matches and hope that Everton won’t win all their remaining matches. They face a side in similar situation, but Southampton come into the match in a disappointing form having won just one of their last 10 matches and are coming off a 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.
However, the saints claimed a 4-1 win over the in the reverse fixture and they will be hoping to find inspiration and confidence from that. But Southampton need to improve their away performances having failed to any of their last five on the road games.
