Manchester United vs Liverpool Match Analysis and Prediction

Manchester United and Liverpool will begin their pre-season campaign when they face off in friendly match at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Thailand on Tuesday evening.

Both sides have busy pre-season campaign plans with the Red Devils planning to take on Melbourne Victory, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano in their next friendlies after the Tuesday clash, while the Reds will take on Crystal Palace, Leipzig and Salzburg in their next preparation matches.

Manchester United will be building towards their Premier League opener against Brighton & Hove Albion on August 7, while Liverpool will face Manchester City in the Community at the end of the month.

Tuesday’s clash will see Manchester United begin a new era under manager Erik ten Hag who arrived from Ajax this summer. Ten Hag is faces a big challenge that is restore Manchester United to glory days, but main target next season will be to get the team back into the Champions League.

United had the worst campaign last season with the side finishing sixth on 58 points from 38 games just two points above West Ham who will be playing in the Conference league next season, and some 13 points behind Tottenham who came fourth.

Man United much to the annoyance of the fans have not been keen on the transfer market in term of incomings with Tyrell Malacia being the only acquisition so far. While there has been a circulation of Cristiano Ronaldo’s dissatisfaction at Old Trafford in regard to the club’s ambitions and he wants to play in the Champions League, something United cannot offer next season. His departure will be a big blow to the team who entirely depended on him last season.

Meanwhile Liverpool missed out on the Premier League title by just a points last term and also missed out on the Champions League on the finals as they fell to Real Madrid. It was heartbreaking moments for the Reds, although they didn’t finish empty-handed entirely as they bagged the League Cup title and the FA Cup.

Liverpool have been busy on the transfer market in attempt to bolster their squad with the likes of Fabio Calvalho and Calvin Ramsey being highly rated prospects to walk into Anfield from Fulham and Aberdeen respectively, while Darwin Nunez has been a statement signing from Benfica.  

However, there have been some departures at the club with the likes of Sadio Mane, Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino being the most notable departures.  Other players who have let the Anfoeld this season include Marko Grujic, Ben Woodburn Sheyi Ojo and Loris Karius.

Their target next season will of course be the Premier League and the Champions League titles and will be looking to use the pre-season to build their form so as to hit the ground running in August.
