Manchester City can’t wait to return to winning ways when they host Burnley at Etihad for the eighth Premier League matchday on Saturday with kickoff at 17:00.
Despite losing out in their opening match, the reigning champions Manchester City have made a strong start to their new Premier league campaign as they have registered four wins, two draws and the defeat, collecting 14 points that have left them in the third spot only two behind league leaders Chelsea.
Pep Guardiola’s side head into the match off a nail-biting 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield with Phil Foden cancelling out Sadio Mane’s opener while Kevin De Bruyne ensured that both sides share the spoils by equalizing Mo Salah’s brilliant goal.
Prior to the exciting draw, Citizens were off a 2-0 away defeat to Paris-Saint Germain and thus Pep’s side will be looking to avoid a third game without a win in the Saturday’s clash. City head into the match in good form having won three, drawn two and lost one of their last six matches across all competitions, as well as have a good home form as they remain unbeaten in their home fixtures this season and have kept four clean sheets in a row at Etihad.
Meanwhile it has been a poor and disappointing start for Burnley who are still winless in their opening seven matches while have drawn in three matches and have suffered four defeats, collecting three points that have left them in the 18th position in the league standings.
Burnley are off a 0-0 draw with fellow relegation mates Norwich City which extended their winless run in the Premier League but marked their third match unbeaten run across all competitions, having won 4-1 against Rochdale in League Cup before the 2-2 league draw with Leicester City prior to the Norwich draw.
Sean Dyche’s side are in a slightly below average form as they have won one, drawn three and lost two of their last six matches across all competition and will be looking to register their fist win this season but face Man City who usually are ruthless to sides beneath them.
