Both Senegal and Malawi will be looking to advance to the knockout stages of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, when they lock horns in their final Group B fixture at the Kouekong Stadium on Tuesday evening with kickoff at 19:00.
Malawi opened their debut AFCON campaign this year on a negative note as they fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat to Guinea in their first group match, with Issiaga Sylla sealing the vital three points for Kaba Diawara’s men in the 35th minute.
However, the Flames secured a 2-1 comeback win over Zimbabwe in their second group match on Friday, with Hellings Frank Mhango cancelling out Ishmael Wadi’s opening goal for Zimbabwe before netting in the winner in 58th minute to keep Malawi’s hopes of progressing alive.
The win ended Meke Mwase’s side poor run of form that had seen them record a five-match losing streak across all competitions and Mwase will be hoping that his men will find confidence from their previous victory ahead of their crucial Tuesday fixture.
Malawi need all three points to guarantee themselves passage to the next round and will be expected to put up a god fight here.
Meanwhile Senegal opened their Africa Cup of Nations campaign on a victorious note, despite putting in an unconvincing performance in their first group match against Zimbabwe. Aliou Cisse’s men needed a last-minute penalty, which was converted by Sadio Mane, to overcome Norman Mapeza’s side who put up a good fight on the day.
However, with similar performance in their second match, the Lions of Teranga were denied all three points on Friday as the sides played out a 0-0 draw. As a result they both sit at the top of the group on four points.
Going into their last group fixture Senegal only needs a draw to advance, but they will be aiming for the three points as they eye the top spot finish and Aliou Cisse will be expecting a better performance from his boys this time around.

Pending a final decision regarding his appeal, he remains a doubt for the game.
