Lyon vs Saint-Etienne Match Analysis and Predition

Lyon ended a six-game winless run in all competitions last weekend, and they will be looking to record consecutive victories when they host Saint-Etienne at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais for a derby contest.

Saint-Etienne are currently sitted at the foot of the Ligue 1 table and are looking to end a dismal run of six successive league defeats.

Prior to last weekend’s fixture with Troyes, Lyon had embarked on a five-game winless league run, where their was a run of four consecutive draws that has hindered Peter Bosz’s side’s push for the European places.

Lyon returned to winning ways for the first time since the end of November after defeating Troyes last weekend, with Moussa Dembele scoring from the penalty spot, leaving his side five points off the European qualification spots.

Peter Bosz’s side now have a perfect opportunity to hold on to back-to-back win, as they meet a side that has won just two league games this season.

Pascal Dupraz took over the reigns from Claude Puel in the middle of December, and has overseen a run of two wins and two defeats, but his concern is that both losses have taken place in Ligue 1.

Despite recording two victories in the Coupe de France, Dupraz is still looking for his first league win as head coach after a 2-1 loss at home to Lens last weekend extended their poor run of form.

Ryad Boudebouz gave Saint-Etienne the lead in the first half, before Florian Sotoca equalised at the 77th minute, before Seko Fofana gave Lyon the victory in the 95th minute.

Despite having won just once on the road in the league this season, Saint-Etienne will look to replicate the type of performance that made them take a point off Lyon back in October, which came through Wahbi Kahzri’s late equaliser.
