Lorient will be hosting Nantes on Sunday for a Breton derby that could prove to be a Ligue 1 relagation six-pointer.
Both teams have been winless in their last five matches – with Lorient’s run starting further back – with Nantes sitting 13th while Lorient are 16th in the table.
Lorient have been running winless for over two months, with their most recent victory coming at home when they defeated Nice on 22nd September. They have lost their last five matches, scoring just one goal and conceding 11 in that duration.
They have had a 2-0 loss twice in the last seven days, losing to Rennes at home before losing to struggling Troyes with first-half goals from Renaud and Rominigue Kuoame.
Due to their sharp downward turn of form, they have dropped to within three points of the bottom two, and they will sure have to end thier losing run if they will want to preserve their league status this season.
Meanwhile, Nante’s winless run could be a little reasonable considering their three most recent games have come against Paris Saint-Germain, reigning champions Lille and second-placed Marseille.
They managed to earn from their game with Lille last weekend, with Ludovic Blas’ equaliser and some determined defending after Fabio Da Silva was sent out with a red card with 12 minutes remaining.
Captain Nicolas Pallois was also dismissed with a red card at the 32nd minute of their Wednesday’s game, which means they played the rest of the game just to do damage control because they were already one goal down.
Antoine Kombouare’s men successfully maintained the one goal margin defeat and he will now hope that easier fixtures can help them find some points and momentum.
In case they fail to perform, they could find themselves dropping into the relagation fight, having narrowly survived last year through playoffs.

Lorient news
Lorient have a number of injuries, with Fabien Lemoine, Vincent Le Goff, Jeremy Morel and Moritz Jenz all set to miss.
Pelissier is more likely to stick to the 3-5-2 formation despite his side’s poor run of form, expecting them to bounce back to win with that setup once again.
Nantes news
Nicolas Palloise will remain out through his red card suspension, with Andrei Girotto likely to take his place at the centre-back.
Nantes also have worries about Moses Simon’s fitness, as he missed training on Friday due to knee pain, while Pedro Chirivella and Fabio will return from suspension.
Prediction and Odds
This match is one which both teams want to bonce back to winning ways, but we could see Nantes resilience recently in their tough fixture but they managed to pick a point away at Lille. With a struggling Lorient, we could back Nantes to have the chance to take the victory.
