Livingstone will be looking to end their three-match losing streak in the Premiership when they face Motherwell in their final fixture of the first phase of the season at Tony Macaroni Arena on Saturday evening with kickoff at 17:00 EAT.
Livingston were left empty handed gain in the Premiership as they surrendered to a narrow 1-0 defeat to St Johnstone at away last Saturday. The Lions have now have now lost their last three league matches, a run that ended their five-match unbeaten run the division, while it has seen drop into the bottom half in the process.
They now sit eighth, level on 37 points with seventh-placed Ross County, one behind Hibernian in sixth, two behind their Saturday visitors who sit fifth and three adrift the fourth-placed Dundee United. Meanwhile, they sit just one point above both Aberdeen and St Mirren who sit in ninth and 10th respectively.
Therefore, David Martindale’s side need three points on Saturday if they are to stand a chance of finishing the first phase in the top half. However, they have struggled against Motherwell recently as they have only won on of their last 10 games against the Steelmen.
The Steelmen ended their 11-match winless run in the Premiership with a dominant 4-2 victory at home against St Mirren last Saturday. The victory was crucial for Graham Alexander’s side as it saw them climb back into the top half where sit fifth with two points above the bottom half.
They will therefore be looking to secure their top half place ahead of the division split after the weekend with another positive result on Saturday. However, Motherwell have failed to win any of their last nine away matches, but have Livingston in each of their last four meetings – including both encounters earlier this season by a 2-1 scoreline and should be confident ahead of the clash.
