Liverpool will be looking to extend their Premier League winning streak to six matches now on the bounce when they welcome Newcastle United to Anfield on Thursday night for the 17th league round with kickoff at 32:00.
Liverpool have been almost unstoppable this season with the Merseyside giants claiming 11 wins from their 16 league matches while picking up three draws and two defeats in the process. They currently sit in the second place on 37 points, sandwiched between Manchester City at the top of the standings with 38 points and Chelsea who sit in third on 36 points.
The Reds head into the match in a good form as they have won all their last seven matches on the bounce across all competitions and are coming off a hard fought 1-0 success over Aston Villa last time out with Mohamed Salah winning the match from the penalty spot after Tyrone Mings’ foul.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are also in a good home form as they have not lost in their last five matches at Anfield keeping clean sheets in all the matches and they extended their home unbeaten run to 20 matches last weekend stretching back to last season and will be expected to keep the momentum going.
Liverpool will fancy their chances in the Wednesday’s clash as they have not lost to Newcastle in their last 26 encounters at Anfield.
Meanwhile Newcastle were humbled 4-0 at the Kings Power despite Leicester City missing numerous players due to injuries and a Covid-19 outbreak. The defeat brought the Magpies crashing back to the ground following their win against Burnley which was their first win of the season in the top-flight.
They are now level on 10 points with Norwich in the last two positions with Newcastle sitting in the 19 with three points adrift of safety and therefore will be looking to bounce back as they aim at salvaging their season.
However, that will a massive for the Magpies who have been poor on the road this season claiming just three points from possible 24 at away and considering they are facing Liverpool at Anfield and thus the Magpies will have their work cut out for them.
