They then went through a tough World Cup Qualifying campaign last year, as they finished at the bottom of their group with the only three points in the eight games coming courtesy of a win over Bulgaria in October.

Meanwhile, after finishing second in their World Cup Qualifying group last year, following an underwhelming Euro 2020 campaign, Turkey headed into their first game of 2022 in the playoffs for this year’s World Cup, and they faced a tough semi-final test against Portugal. Turkey had only lost one of their qualifying matches but made it through top the World Cup qualifying playoffs for finishing second but lost in the semi-finals to Portugal.
Turkey will be aiming for another victory following 4-0 Nations League success to beat Faroe Islands in their last fixture. In that match, Turkey had 77% possession, 17 shots with nine of them on target and goals scored by Cengiz Ünder (37′), Halil Dervişoğlu (47′), Serdar Dursun (82′) and Merih Demiral (85′). Faroe Islands got four shots with none of them on target.
