Lillestrom vs Aalesund Match Analysis and Prediction

Current leaders Lillestrom will be looking to continue their impressive start to the Eliteserien campaign on Thursday when they play host to newly promoted Aalesund at Arasen Stadion.

The Canaries are currently sitting at the summit of the table, havig already picked up 10 points from four matches, one point above Viking.

In their last game in the Eliteserien action, they ran out 1-0 victors over Haugesund at home, extending their unbeaten season start to four matches, winning three and drawing one. Holmbert Friojonsson got on the scoresheet for the hosts in the 87th minute on the contest.

Jorgen Lennartsson’s side have won each of their two previous Eliteserien contest on home soil this season, and will be looking to extend that record on Thursday when they go head to head with the newly promoted Aalesund side.

The trio of Holmbert Fridjonsson, Igoh Ogbu and Akor Adams have provided stand-out moments for Lillestrom this season, being the club’s joint top scorers with two goals each.

In the previous Eliteserien fixture between the teams, Lillestrom came out on top 4-0 at Arasen Stadion in October 2017.

Frode Kippe opened the scoring for Lillestrom in the 24th minute, before Erik Naesbak, Ifeanyi Mathew and Erling Knudtzon also getting on the scoresheet.

Meanwhile, Aalesund enter the contest off the back of a 3-2 victory over Odd on Saturday. Sidurd Haugen and Isak Maatta put Aalesund ahead in the first half while Kristopher scored the winner in the 55th minute, with Tobias Lauritsen getting on the scoresheet for the hosts with a brace.

That result left Lars Arne Nilsen’s side sitting seventh in the Eliteserien table, only three points adrift of Thursday’s opponents at the top of the table. In their four matches, they have picked up two wins, one draw and one loss.

With the league still fresh from the start, Lillestrom enter the Thursday’s contest with a clean bill of health and without any bookings for suspension.
