Latvia will look to take another step toward their promotion to League C of the UEFA Nations League when they visit the Rheinpark Stadion to take on Liechtenstein in their Group D1 fourth round tie on Tuesday night.
Liechtenstein have made a complete opposite campaign to that of their Tuesday’s visitors and are now the group’s whopping boys having lost all their opening three games. They opened with a 2-0 defeat to Moldova, then followed that up with a 1-0 loss to Latvia before they were dispatched 2-1 by Andorra last week Friday.
They are now rooted at the bottom of the group with zero points, and will desperate for at least a draw in this clash. They however will need a miracle for that as they have now suffered seven consecutive defeats across all competitions.
Latvia meanwhile lead the group on nine points, five points in the clear, having won all their opening three games. They opened with a 3-0 win over Andorra before seeing out their Tuesday’s hosts 1-0 in the second fixture. They them dispatched a resilient Moldova 4-2 at away last Friday.
Latvia have now won five of their last seven international games, picking draws in the other two fixture, and recording four clean sheets in the run. They will now be looking to extend the run on Tuesday and considering their opponents this should be a routine win for Latvia.
