Libya and Egypt will still be battling for the top spot of Group F of the CAF World Cup qualifiers when they face off at the 28 March Stadium in Benghazi on Monday with kickoff at 22:00.
Both sides are eyeing the top spot as including this fixture each has just three games left to make it to Qatar next year, the three points will mean a lot for both sides who have just one point separating them. A win for Egypt will put them four points clear of Libya and almost guarantee them their place at the next year’s tournament while the three points for Libya will put them two points above Egypt which would be advantageous for their quest to their first ever World Cup finals.
The two sides clashed in their first leg on Friday with Egypt Edging their Monday hosts 1-0 in a match they dominated with more possession of the ball and seven shots on target while Libya could only manage one shot on target.
The win saw the Pharaohs leapfrog their North African rivals to the top spot garbing seven points from their three matches while Libya are one point below them but does not rule Libya out of topping the group at the end of the qualifying campaign as a revenge on Monday would see them back on top again.
Javier Clement expects his side to be more confident heading into the clash since they have the home advantage where they beat Egypt in their last home meeting.
