King Power will see the FA Cup winners Leicester City begin their 2021-22 Premier League campaign this Saturday against Wolverhampton Wanderers with kickoff at 17:00.
Leicester City had a solid campaign last season but the end-of-season collapse ended up proving fatal in their bid to return to the Champions League, as three defeats from their final four condemned them to another fifth-placed finish, booking them another spell in the Europa League.
Its now clear that the target for the Foxes this season will be to break into those top four places and earn the Champions League football evidently through their astute array of acquisitions in Patson Daka, Boubakary Soumare and Ryan Bertrand who could prove priceless in Leicester’s bid for a top for finish. Also, the Foxes have kept their key players with top score Jamie Vardy expected to lead the line and manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to hold on to playmaker James Maddison amidst Arsenal interests.
Leicester City head into the Saturday’s opener on the back of a 1-0 victory over Manchester City in the Community Shield and Brendan will expect his side to take the confidence from their Community Shield victory into the match as they look to open with positive results at home.
Meanwhile Wolverhampton Wanderers adds to the list of clubs undergoing transition this season following the departure of their manager Nuno Espirito Santo after a disappointing campaign last season that saw Wanderers finish in the 13th spot with only 17 points clear of relegation.
New manager Bruno Lage is still struggling to get the best out of his new team evidently in their pre-season run as they only managed to claim two victories out of their six pre-season matches.
However, Wolves have a major boost heading into the new campaign following the return of their prolific striker Raul Jimenez who missed most of the last season due to a head injury and they have also retained their key players and adding Francisco Trincao, Yerson Mosquera, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Jose Sa to their squad.
The main target for Bruno Lage and his side this season will be to return to the European spots, hence will aim at starting with a positive result here.
