The Premier League returns to the fold this weekend following the third international break, with Chelsea looking to increase their lead when they visit King Power to take on Leicester in the Saturday’s early kickoff scheduled at 15:30.
Leicester City have been struggling to hit the same height they did last season and the seasons before that and things haven’t been working for them this season as they have made a slow and somewhat disappointing campaign having only won four of their 11 matches so far and have picked up three draws and four defeats in the process. They currently sit in the 12th spot in the Premier League standings on 15 points, with seven points away from the Champions League places as well as seven above the relegation zone.
The Foxes head into the match off a disappointing 1-1 draw against Leeds United at Elland Road just before the international break. The draw marked Leicester’s third match without a win across all competitions as the club was coming off another 1-1 draw against Spartak Moscow in the Europa League and a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal at home in the Premier League.
Therefore, Brendan Rodgers’ side will be looking to bounce back in this match as they aim at climbing back to the top half but face a formidable Chelsea who lead the Premier League and not since the 1997-98 season have Leicester managed to prevail against the team starting the gameweek at the top of the table.
Meanwhile Chelsea have had a fine season so far having only tasted defeated once in the league in their 11 matches while have picked up eight wins and two draws in the process and currently sit at the top of the Premier League with three points in clear on 26.
Thomas Tuchel’s side head into the match on the back of a disappointing 1-1 draw against Burnley in their last league match. Prior to the draw the Blues were coming off a seven-match winning streak and Tuchel will want his side to get over the Burnley disappointment quickly and get their momentum back on the track.
The Blues have been good on the road this season having claimed four wins and one draw in their five away matches so far and have also won their last three away games in the Premier League without shipping a single goal and have only conceded once on the road this season and thus will looking to keep the momentum going in the Saturday’s clash.
