Leeds will be looking to end a run of three straight defeats in their first game of 2022, when they welcome Burnley to Elland Road on Sunday.
The Whites’ recent matches with Liverpool and Aston Villa have been postponed due to Covid-19, while Burnley lost 3-1 to Manchester United on Thursday.
Before their two matches were postponed, they had lost three matches against Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal.
They prepare to enter the new year sitting 16th in the Premier League table and five points clear of the relegation zone after Burnley’s defeat.
However, the Whites can take some solace in the fact that their 4-1 loss to Arsenal is their only defeat in their last six Premier League matches at home, and they have only failed to score in one of their last 11 league games at Elland Road, scoring in each of their last seven.
Even with Manchester United’s struggles to dominate matches under interim coach Ralf Rangnick, attempting to get a victory over the Red Devils at Old Trafford was a hard task for Burnley, who fell to a 3-1 defeat on Thursday night.
Manchester United won through goals from Scott McTominay, Cristiano Ronaldo and an own goal from Ben Mee by the 35-minute mark, and despite Aaron Lennon threatened a comeback with his goal before the break, the game ended in the favour of the Red Devils.
Burnley have now gone six games without victory in the Premier League, and they are one of only two sides in the English top flight yet to win away from home this season.
Burnley played out Leeds a 1-1 draw in their match at Turf Moor earlier this season, but the Whites managed to win 1-0 at Elland Road this time last year courtesy of a fifth-minute penalty from Patrick Bamord.
