Leeds United vs Aston Villa Match Analysis and Prediction

Leeds will be looking to secure their first victory under Jessa Marsch at the second attempt when they welcome Aston Villa to Elland Road on Thursday in the Premier League.

The hosts went down to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Leicester City at the weekend, while Aston Villa defeated Southampton 4-0.

Leeds gave it their all at the home of the faltering Foxes and only lost through a Harvey Barnes goal in the 67th minute of the match.

The new manager bounce is yet to come for the Whites, who have now lost their last five matches in the Premier League after such an impressive start to life in the top flight last season, and the threat of a relegation battle is looming.

The Whites remain above the relegation zone in 16th at the moment but are only two points clear of 18th-placed Burnley having played a game more, so they desperately need some inspiration to keep their stint in the top flight going a little while longer.

Marsch prepares for his first Elland Road encounter with Leeds only recording one win from their last six matches at home in the competition, losing each of their last three.

Danny Ings ended the day on Saturday with a goal and two assists to his name as Aston Villa marched to an impressive 4-0 victory to end Southampton’s unbeaten streak, with Ollie Watkins, Philippe Coutinho and Douglas Luiz also getting on the scoresheet.

Aston Villa are yet to put together three consecutive wins this season and tend to be unsteady away from home, making a habit of winning one then losing one on rival ground.

The two palyed out a 3-3 draw in their last meeting in the West Midlands, and Villa have only managed to win one of their last five against the Whites.

Leeds United news

Liam Cooper and Kalvin Phillips are not quite ready to make their comebacks for Leeds just yet, while Diego Llorente also remains doubtful after missing out at the weekend.

Marsch took some positives from the Leicester defeat and may have no reason to change his formula for the Thursday’s contest.

Aston Villa news

Gerrard is hopeful that he will have Carney Chukwuemeka as an option for Thursday’s game, but Marvelous Nakamba is still a few weeks away from a return.

Ezri Konsa and Lucas Digne missed last time out after testing positive for COVID-19, and their availability for the midweek match remains unclear.

Prediction and Odds

With the return of Bamford in the squad, Leeds are sure to possess a greater goal threat, and being assured defensively, they will pose a tough game for Villa.

However, Aston Villa enter the contest with more confidence following their weekend victory, and we predict a draw or an away win.
