Leca and Sporting Lisbon will square off at the Estadio da Mata Real looking to book a place in the last four of the Taca de Portugal on Tuesday night with kickoff at 23:45.
Laca have made impressive campaigns in both Campeonato de Portugal and Taca de Portugal with club sitting at the top of Campeonato de Portugal Group C with 28 points collected from 11 fixtures. They have only drawn and lost once in the Group while claiming nine victories in the process.
In Taca de Portugal the club has been superb to make it into the quarter finals with the club scoring eight goals and keeping three clean sheets in their previous six matches of the competitions. They opened with a 1-0 win over Lusitania Lourosa, and then followed that up with an emphatic 4-0 win against Pombal in the second round before seeing off Primeira Liga outfits Arouca with a 2-1 win and Vicente Barcelos with a 1-0 win in the subsequent rounds.
Leca however, needed a penalty shootout to see off Paredes in the round of 16 with the match ending 1-1 after extra time. They are now in the last eight and will be looking to maintain their impressive cup run but the rampant Sporting Lipson stand in their way and will be fascinating to see how their perform against the reigning Portuguese champions.
Meanwhile Sporting Lisbon have a good title defence in the Primeira Liga with the club collecting 44 points from their 17 matches which have left them sitting in the second place with three points off the summit. They suffered their first top-flight defeat against Santa Clara in their last outing on Friday, losing 3-2 on the day. The defeat allowed Porto to go ahead with three points clear.
Prior to that Sporting were on a 14-game unbeaten run in the top-flight, claiming 12 victories and two draws while winning each of their last five games across all competitions. Therefore they will be looking to quickly bounce back and facing a fourth-tier side in the quarter finals of the Taca de Portugal provides them the perfect chance.
The Leoes are also looking to end their two-year wait for the cup title after their 2019 glory, when they overcame Porto on penalties in the final.
