Lazio aim to continue their quest for a return to European competition when they welcome Venezia to Stadio Olimpico on Monday.

Sitting seventh in the Serie A standings, the hosts are looking to build on a comprehensive victory last week, while Venezia are stuck in the bottom three after nini matches without a win.

While Maurizio Sarri is renowned for his expansive approach, he has built much of that progress on an improving defensive record, and the Biancocelesti have kept five clean sheets since the turn of the year.

Under both Sarri and his immediate predecessor Simone Inzaghi, Le Aquile have generally been taking on visitors on Roman soil, winning 17 of 19 at the Olimpico in Serie A prior to a recent downturn in fortunes.

Ahead of Venezia’s visit, Lazio have won only two of their last seven home league matches, and will be keen to re-establish their previous supremacy against a struggling away side.

Having alread exited the Coppa Italia and Europa League, all that Lazio have left to fight for is a top-six finish, which means they will not let an ailing opponent deny them maximum points.
