Lazio are heading into their Thursday’s encounter with Udinese with an aim to bounce back from suffering successive losses in Serie A.
While the hosts are sitting in the 8th position in the standings, Udinese are down at the 14th position, still five points clear of the relegation zone.
In the highly contested race for the European places, it does not take much to fall off the pace, and that is something that Lazio have discovered over the past two matches.
Their losses to Juventus and Napoli – Napoli by a 4-0 scoreline – has resulted in Maurizio Sarri’s side dropping down to the 8th position and with a poorer goal difference.
Getting a victory on Thursday night will Immediately lift the mood at Stadio Olimpico, but Lazio need to deliver something extra having registered just six victories from 14 outings this season.
On a positive point though, they will be ending the year with five successive meetings with teams sitting in the bottom half of the table, giving them the perfect chance to establish a foothold in the top six.
The Eagles also have the second-best home record in the division, scoring a league joint-best of 18 goals.
Having registered only one victory in 11 league matches, Luca Gotti is aware that there comes a moment when he needs to deliver a sustained improvement.
With four points from a possible nine and a first clean sheet since September 12, they have gone some way to acheive that, the shutout coming in a goalles draw at home with Genoa in the weekend.
While Udinese would have wished to take all the three points against Genoa, it at least maintained a five point advantage over their struggling opponents.
Udinese have gone five games away without registering a victory, their only win on the road coming away at Spezia in their third travel of the season.

Lazio news
Lazio will have to make at least one change after Luiz Felipe picked a fifth yellow card of the season on Sunday, with Patric expected to deputise for him in the middle of the defence, moving from right-back where Manuel Lazzari will take his place in a wider position.
Udinese news
In the Udinese side, Roberto Pereyra is likely to miss out due to injury, with Ignacio Pussetto expected to return to the Udinese XI.
While the rest of the team is likely to stay the same for the Thursday’s encounter, Samir and Walace are both just one booking away from a suspension.
Prediction and Odds
As Lazio have had some good performance at home recently, Udinese have had a poor form away. Bearing that in mind, we could see Lazio put up a good game against the visitors in a bid to bounce back from their loss. So, we could back the hosts to take the win of the day.
