Wolves begin their early preparations for the 2021-2022 campaign with a pre-season friendly against Segunda Division outfit Las Palmas. The match schedules for Monday at Gran Canaria with kickoff at 10 pm.
First, Wolves prepare for the start of the season with an opener against Leicester City on August 14. On the other hand, Las Palmas begin their new season campaign with a tie against Real Valladolid on August 15.
Las Palmas were on top of their game between 2015 and 2018, staying in the Segunda division last three seasons. Furthermore, the side secured ninth place consecutive finishes in the run.
However, it remains a fight to advance to the La Liga next season. 58-year-old Pepe Mel remains at the helm – who previously managed Premier League outfit West Bromwich in 2014. However, his stance lasted only four months.
The buildup to the new season has been difficult for Wolves, especially after parting ways with Nuno Espirito. It started with a 1-0 defeat to Crewe Alexandra last weekend. The match was Bruno Lage’s first managerial role.
Despite the disappointing result, it was on a positive note for forward Jose Jimenez returning from a head injury. He sustained the serious injury back in November against Arsenal. Thirty-three minutes under his belt is enough to get the talisman up and running ahead of the new season.
