Kenya welcome rivals Uganda to Nyayo Stadium for their first ever qualification for the World Cup finals on Thursday with kickoff at 16:00.
This is the second match of Group E in Africa’s FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifiers while Mali host Rwanda on Wednesday in the first fixture. Both nations have never made an appearance at the World Cup and now is a good chance for them to grab this long-awaited opportunity.
Both teams failed to qualify for the upcoming AFCON 2021 with Harambee Stars’ being kept out following a 1-1 draw with Egypt back in June while Uganda failed to come out on top for the sixth game running after a 3-2 defeat against South Africa.
This will be an interesting match as both sides have proved to be a tough nut crack for the opponents judging from their recent meetings as neither side has won in their last three meetings since 2015 with all fixtures ending in draws.
While Uganda has always been a tough opponent Kenya’s football has gained momentum since the re-appointment of Jacob Mulee as head coach for the fifth time. Having a home advantage and being in a better form than that of Uganda Cranes we expect Harambee Stars to go all out to get a result in this fixture. The country has only lost one match in their last six matches recording three wins while their visitors have not won in their last six games recording four defeats and two draws.
Kenya vs Uganda head to head
