UEFA Nations League is back in action and will see Kazakhstan take on Belarus this week at Astana Arena in the fifth round of League C, Group 3. Kickoffs schedules for September 22 at 17:00 EAT.
The hosts are the best team in the group so far with 10 points garnered from the opening four matches -they only need a win to gain promotion to the higher League. If they lose or draw this match they will still retain their position at the top of the group. Kazakhstan has won three of their four matches with one draw, to remain the only unbeaten team in the group.
Kazakhstan will aim for another win following 2-1 Nations League victory over Slovakia in their previous game. In that match, Kazakhstan had 30% possession, seven shots with three of them on target and goals scored by Yan Vorogovskiy (18′) and Elkhan Astanov (39′). Slovakia got 17 shots with five of them on target and a goal by Matúš Bero (51′).
Belarus on the other end is the weakest team in the group this term – they are placed at the bottom of the table with just two points after the four matches they have played. The visitors are the only team in the group without a win, their best result being a pair of draws. Belarus will be desperate to get a win or else they face the threat of falling into relegation playoff.
Belarus head into this game looking to make amends following 2-0 defeat at the hands of Azerbaijan in their previous fixture. In that match, Belarus managed 47% possession and 13 shots with three of them on target. Azerbaijan got 14 shots with three of them on target and goals by Mahir Emreli (76′) and Ramil Şeydayev (90′).
