Kayserispor will play their final home Super Lig game on the campaign on Saturday when they welcome Yeni Malatyaspor to Kadir Has Sehir Stadyumu.
The hosts head into Saturday’s contest in 15th position, while Yeni Malatyaspor are guaranteed to finish rock bottom of the league table.
Hikmet Karaman’s side may sit in a lowly position in the standings, but their Super Lig status is secured with eight points separating them from the drop zone.
The Anatolian Star have won just one of their last 10 matches, however, they enter Saturday’s game in high spirits after defeating Trabzonspor in the Turkish Cup semi-finals in midweek.
Kayserispor put an end to Trabzonspor’s hopes of a league and cup double after they overturned a first-leg deficit to reach the Turkish Cup final.
Two goals apiece in 82 minutes left Kayserispor trailing 3-2 on aggregate as the contest entered stoppage time, but late goals from Mame Thiam and Emrah Bassan helped Kayserispor secure a spot in the cup finals in the most dramatic of circumstances.
Although the cup final against Sivasspor at the end of May will be their priority, Karaman’s side will be aiming to build some confidence in the final two games of the league season.
On the other hand, Yeni Malatyaspor head into Saturday’s fixture in a downhearted mood after suffering defeats in their last eight matches.
After playing 36 Super Lig matches, the bottom-placed side have picked up just 20 points, with just five of their league games ending in victory.
In their most recent fixture, Yeni Malatyaspor fell to a 3-1 defeat at home to Caykur Rizespor with a Rahman Cagiran goal the only positive in a disappointing display. Cagiran’s effort did little to help a struggling side that have scored only 27 goals in their 36 league matches this season.
