Fresh from European disappointment, Fenerbahce travel to Recep Tayyip Erdogan Stadium to take on Kasimpasa in an important Turkish Super Lig tie on Monday night with kickoff at 20:00.
Kasimpasa failed to find their feet again last time out as they were involved in another share of spoils last week Friday following a 4-4 draw against Konyaspor at away. Sami Ugurlu’s side have now failed to win in their last three Super Lig matches suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Trabzonspor before picking a 2-2 draw against Alanyaspor.
The run put an end to their six-match unbeaten run in the Turkish Super Lig, which included a five-match winning streak and a draw, meaning that Kasimpasa have only lost one of their last nine league matches a run that has seen them go two places and three points above the relegation zone.
Therefore the hosts will be looking to bounce back to winning ways as they look to continue climbing away from the drop zone and will draw confidence from their recent home form having gone unbeaten in their last four home matches.
However, in their way stands a side they have only beaten once in their last 19 meetings, picking up just two draws while suffering 16 defeats in the process and have lost in their last four consecutive meetings.
Fenerbahce exited the European football this season last Thursday night following a 6-4 aggregate defeat to Slavia Prague in the Europa Conference League knockout playoffs, losing 3-2 in both legs.
Now back to the Super Lig their main focus now will be to secure European football for next season. Ismail Kartal’s side currently sits fifth in the Super Lig standings on 43 points from 26 matches, just two points adrift of the top-four.
They head into the match in a good league form having just lost one of their last six Super Lig matches and are coming off back-to-back victories against Giresunspor (1-2) and Hatayspor (2-0). They will therefore be hopeful that they can pick up a positive result in the Monday clash.
