Israel will travel to Iceland for their UEFA Nations League match on Tuesday with the chance to move closer to promotion to League C with kickoff at 9:45 pm. With Russia being expelled from the competition due to its military invasion of Ukraine, it has left Israel as the favourite to claim the top spot in a three-nation group.
However, they have not had it their way; a 2-2 draw with Iceland on matchday one was followed by a comeback victory over Albania on Friday.
Nevertheless, with only two games remaining, Israel can almost secure first place; a win will force Albania to win both of their remaining fixtures. Israel’s four goals have been shared: Manor Solomon scored twice versus Albania after the home side initially took a 1-0 lead.
Iceland has played just one game since their last win, on November 6. They beat San Marino 1-0 on Thursday, only after conceding a goal in the 38th minute.
However, they managed to score one of their own in the 63rd minute, enough for them to claim full points. Five draws came during an eight-game period, the most recent being a comeback 1-1 draw with Albania on Monday.
However, Iceland has won just two home fixtures over the past 20 months, their solitary win on the familiar territory since the beginning of 2021 being against Liechtenstein.

Israel Team News
The Iceland coach has not made many changes for the narrow win over San Marino. He will probably go back to most of the team which drew with Albania when Aron Elis Thrandarson scored the only goal. Andri Gudjohnsen may keep his place in attack, as he did against Albania.
Iceland Team News
The Israel XI is expected to draft in Sun Menahem after left-back Doron Leidner was injured versus Albania. The same can be said of Shon Weissman, with Munus Dabbur in line to return in the final third, while Dan Glazer should deputise for suspended Eden Karzev.
