Inter Milan will be hoping to retain their Scudetto glory when they welcome Sampdoria to San Siro for their final Serie A Matchday tie this season on Sunday evening with kickoff at 19:00.
Reigning champions Inter Milan have another impressive campaign this season and they could be now just 90 minutes away from retaining the title. The Nerazzurri currently sit second in the Serie A standings with 81 points from 37 matches, just two points behind leaders and city rivals, AC Milan.
Simeone Inzaghi’s men will be kicking themselves though for the shocking 2-1 defeat to Bologna last month, a defeat that shifted the title winning initiative in Milan’s favor. Inter have however won their last four matches since the incident, including a win in the final of the Coppa Italia against Juventus.
They are clear favorites to claim all three points in this clash and they will be gunning for the points that could see them crowned kings of Serie A again. They have not lost to Sampdoria in their last four home encounters and their home record this season is 13 wins, three draws and just two defeats.
Sampdoria meanwhile have made a disappointing campaign this season with the side claiming 36 points from 37 games. However, Sampdoria head into the match having already secured their top-flight survival as they currently sit 15th, five points above the relegation zone with one match to go.
They therefor have nothing to fight for in this fixture other than wanting to finish their miserable campaign in a style. They are coming off a confidence-boosting 4-1 victory over Fiorentina, but they will need to be at their absolute best to get anything away on Sunday.
