The Milanese giants face off in an important Derby della Madonnina this weekend as Inter Milan play ‘hosts’ to AC Milan on Saturday night with kickoff a 20:00.
Inter Milan have made an excellent Serie A campaign this season and look well on course for a successful tittle defence as they sit four points clear at the top of the league standings with a game in hand. Indeed, they have dominated Serie A this term as they have only suffered one defeat this season, while picking 16 victories and just five draws from their remaining 21 matches.
In addition to their dominance Inter are unbeaten in their last 15 consecutive league matches claiming 12 wins and three draws in the process. They are coming off 2-1 win against Venezia in their previous Serie A outing, where they fought from behind, with Nicolo Barella netting the equalizer while Edin Dzeko grabbed the winner on the 90th-minute.
The win marked their consecutive seventh win at San Siro and although they use the same stadium as their opponents inter will be looking to maintain the momentum as they look to widen the gap between them and the third-placed AC and increase their chances of defending their Scudetto.
Meanwhile AC Milan enjoyed a brilliant start to the 2021/22 Serie A campaign with club going toe-to-toe with Napoli earlier in the season before appearing to challenge Inter Milan for the top place in the title race.
However, Milan have been on some sort of downfall trajectory as the side has failed to claim maximum points in four of their last seven Serie A matches, a run that has seen them slip down into the third spot with four points off the summit.
The Rossoneri head into the match in low spirits as they are winless in their last two Serie A matches where they first lost 2-1 to Spezia before drawing 0-0 with Juventus. They will be more disappointed with the Spezia defeat as they were leading at the break but went two in the second half. The problem seem to be at the back as they have only kept two clean sheets in their last seven league matches.
It is something they will be looking to change in this match as they aim at bouncing back and getting their title race back on track.
