Huddersfield will host Preston North End at the John Smith’s Stadium in their all-Championship EFL Cup first round on Tuesday night.
Huddersfield started life under Danny Schofield in a poor way as they were beaten 1-0 by Burnley in their opening league game, before losing 2-1 to Birmingham City last Friday. They have now failed to win any of their three matches as they were previously coming off a 1-1 draw with Bolton in the final pre-season math.
The Terries will now be hoping for better luck in the EFL Cup, although they have been knocked out of the competition at this stage in two of their last three seasons and will look to make amends this time around.
Meanwhile Preston North End have also failed to win any of their opening two matches, claiming back-to-back goalless draws against newly promoted Wigan Athletic and Hull City. That has stretched their winless run to three matches as they suffered a 2-1defeat to Leicester in their final pre-season friendly and will look to turn around their fortunes on Tuesday.
Preston enjoyed a solid run in the EFL Cup last season, making the last 16, where they lost 2-0 to eventual winners Liverpool and will be hoping for a similar run this season.
