Canada will be having the opportunity to maintain their spot on top of the CONCACAF standings of World Cup 2022 qualifying when they play Honduras in San Pedro at the Olimpico Metropolitano Stadium on Thursday.
Honduras have lost their last four qualifiers and are bottom of the table with three points, while Canada defeated Costa Rica and Mexico at home in the previous window.
It is becoming close to do-or-die time for the Hondurans, who need to collect some points fast enough to remain in the hunt for a spot in Qatar this November.
A series unsteady matches in the early stages have put this group in a bad spot, 11 points behind the Mexicans for a guaranteed place at the World Cup, and behind Panama by the same number of points to make it to a playoff.
Following their failure to win in their first six games in the Octagon, where they were outscored by a 9-2 margin, Fabian Coito was sacked, with Hernan Dario Gomez taking over.
Since Dario Gomez took charge, Honduras have shown more quality in the final third with four goals in their last three matches in all competitions, but the result remain the same, having dropped all three of their games under their new manager.
Canada enter the fixture with confidence, unbeaten after eight qualifying matches, as they took advantage of the bleak conditions in Edmonton back in November, while also benefiting from some poor goalkeeping which helped them move a point above the United States in their quest to make the finals for the first time since 1986.
With humid conditions that we are likely to see in San Pedro, it will be intresting to see whether manager Herdman remains aggressive and tries to stretch the field out wide, or if he chooses to play conservatively.
