HIFK will still be looking for their first win in the 2022 Veikkausliiga campaign when they welcome VPS Vaasa to Helsinki Football Stadium for their Matchday 11 fixture on Saturday night.
HIFK have made a poor campaign in the 2022 Veikkausliiga as the side still remain winless after nine league matches, picking up three draws while suffering six defeats in the process. They therefore currently sit at the bottom of the Veikkausliiga table with only three points, and four points behind the second-bottom Mariehamn.
With the first half of the first phase nearing the half mark, HIFK need to start picking up wins if they are to get themselves out of the bottom half. They are coming off a 4-2 victory after a penalty shootout against Mariehamn at away last Monday in the Suomen Cup, following a 1-1 draw at full time.
They have now claimed two victories in their last three fixtures across all competitions with the other win still coming in Suomen Cup, where they claimed a 7-0 away win against Sexypoexyt in the fifth round. They will now be looking to build on the victories as they seek to get their Veikkausliiga campaign underway, and having won four of their last meetings against Vaasa, HIFK should fancy their chances.
VPS Vaasa haven’t also had a great run earlier in this 2022 Veikkausliiga campaign, with the side picking up three victories and one draw, while suffering six defeats in their last 10 league games. They currently sit in the bottom half, in eight, on 10 points, two points outside the championship half.
VPS suffered a 2-1 defeat in a penalty shootout against HJK at home last Monday, in the sixth round of the Suomen Cup. However they were previously coming off a 3-1 away win over Mariehamn in the Veikkausliiga and they will be looking to claiming other maximum points on Saturday.
VPS though have been having problems against HIFK and we expect a very closely fought encounter, although we back VPS to work HIFK’s shaky defence.
