Hibernian will be looking to put their Scottish League cup final defeat behind them when they host Aberdeen in an important Premiership fixture at the Easter Road on Wednesday night with kickoff at 22:45.
Hibernian were involved in the first silverware of the season but did not play out well for them as Celtic came from behind to beat them in the League Cup final on Sunday with a 2-1 success. Paul Hanlon opened the score on the day for Hibernian early in the second half, but Celtic responded just a minute later by Kyogo Furuhashi who scored a brace for the Hoops sealing their 20th League Cup title.
Back to the Premiership Hibs are up against Aberdeen in their 19 league round and Hibees will be looking to extend on their two-game unbeaten run on the bounce. Hibernian have been in a slump in the recent weeks with the side claiming just one win their last five league matches drawing two and losing two in the process. The run has seen them drop into the bottom half and currently sit in seventh on 24 points with just a point outside the top half.
David Gray will still be in charge of the Hibs in this match following the sacking of Jack Ross and he will hope that his side can maintain their new found momentum in the Premiership as he aims at climbing back in to the top half and with their opponents sitting just a point above them this gives them a perfect chance.
Meanwhile Aberdeen have been on and off this season, but have been impressive of late with the club bagging wins from their last three matches in the Premiership on the bounce. The run has seen rise up the table in the sixth in the top half on 24 points with just a point behind the fifth-placed Dundee United.
Even though they will be aware of the fact that Hibernian sit just a point behind them, Stephen Glass shall be looking up the table instead, with a victory having the potential to see them climb into fifth place.
The last time the two met the Dons won with a 1-0 at home and will be looking to complete a double over Hibs as they look to get closer to the top four.
