Both Hearts and St Johnstone will be looking to kick start their 2022 on a positive note, with Hearts seeking to extend their winning streak to three matches on the bounce in the Premiership, while St Johnstone will looking to end their poor run of form in the league. The clash will take place at Tynecastle Park on Tuesday night with kickoff at 22:45.
Hearts have made an impressive campaign on their return to the Scottish top-flight after getting relegated in the 2019/20 season. They find themselves in the third spot in the league standings with 36 points collected from their 20 matches, nine points behind the top two and five above Motherwell in the fourth.
The Jambos closed the productive 2021 with back-to-back victories against Dundee and Ross County bringing their total wins this season to 10 and confident of recording their 11th in the Tuesday’s clash as they head into the match in a good form having only lost to Celtic and rangers in their last six matches, winning all the other four while keeping three clean sheets in the run.
Meanwhile St Johnstone have made a disappointing campaign this season with the club managing to only claim three wins from their 20 league matches so far, while have drawn five and suffered 12 defeats in the process. They currently sit at the bottom of the table on 14 points, four points adrift of safety and will be pressured on every performance in the second half of the season.
The problem with Callum Davidson seem to be at their attack as the side has only scored 11 times this season which has been an issue for them in terms of picking up points. They head into the match in poor form as they have won in none of their last nine matches and have an eight-match losing streak.
They will need to start responding in this fixture if they are to salvage season that otherwise appears doomed.
