Hapoel Be’er Sheva vs Lech Poznan Match Analysis and Prediction

Hapoel Be’er Sheva will be keen to pick up a positive result when they host Lech Poznan at Turner Stadium on Thursday so as to keep their dreams of making the playoffs for the knockout stages alive.

The vistors enter the contest sitting two points ahead of their hosts, occupying second place, and the playoff spot will be near enough secured with a win on Thursday.

Hapoel should win this game if they are to give themselves a chance of qualifying for the playoffs, and they will need to creat better chances and have a shot on target, which they failed to do in the goalless draw in the previous meeting.

The Israeli outfit also picked up a point in a 2-2 draw with Hapoel Haifa at the weekend, putting an end to their run of three successive league victories, but with good spirit shown as they came from behind twice.

Elyaniv Barda’s side will be trying to keep their hopes alive of reaching the knockout rounds of a European competition for the first time since 2016-17, when they lost to Besiktas in the round of 32 of the Europa League.

After creating all the chances in last week’s game, Lech Poznan will be hoping that they can score in this match in order to put themselves in a commanding position to finish second in the group.

Lech Poznan are on a run of four consecutive clean sheets on the defensive front, even though Scottish defender Barry Douglas had to come off in the first half last week and did not feature at the weekend.

A victory on Thursday will put them in prime position for the playoffs, which could lead to their first knockout appearance since 2010-11 in the Europa League, where they lost in the round of 16 to Sporting Braga.

Hapoel Be’er Sheva news

Hapoel Be’er Sheva will potentailly take to the pitch without defender Eyad Abu Abaid after he was substituted at half time and was not part of the squad in their weekend league match.

That would lead to a change from a three-at-the-back formation to a four-at-the-back with Helder Lopes playing as a regular left-back.

Lech Poznan news

Barry Douglas came off early in last week’s reverse fixture and also missed out in their league game, with Pedro Robocho likely to come into the starting lineup.

After his goal in the league at the weekend, Tsitaishvili could also join the first XI, with him most likely to replace Filip Marchwinski.

Prediction and Odds

Like last week’s game, we expect this contest to be a tight one with each side keen to come away with all three points in a bid to keep their playoff dreams alive.

However, with more attacking threat and an array of potential scorers, Lech Poznan will find a way to score and claim victory.
