Guangzhou City and Zhejiang Professional have an encounter at the Yuexiushuan Stadium on Monday looking to kickstart their 2022 campaings in the Chinese Super League.
The hosts enter the contest off the back of four consecutive defeats at the beginning of the new season, while Zhejiang are not too much better off following a tough opening few weeks.
Guangzhou City have lost each of their opening four matches at the start of the new campaign while scoring just one goal in the process, and will kick off the game in the bottom three, two places and two points behind their opponents in safety.
Jean-Paul van Gastel’s side were helpless in a one-sided game against Henan Songshan Longmen on Wednesday, with Guangzhou being dominated from start to finihs in a 3-0 defeat on home soil.
Their remains a lot of time to turn their disappointing start around, but it is already looking a tough task for them to repeat the impressive ninth-placed finish in the regular season in 2021, which was heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Following their promotion to the Chinese Super League, Zhejiang have the top flight campaign on a four-game winless streak, having drawn two and lost two of their opening matches so far.
Although Zhejiang will be tipped to get their campaign up and running with their first win of the season against a fellow struggler on Monday, they will have history against them when they take to the pitch at the Yuexiushan Stadium.
The two sides have not met for almost six year, since their encounter in the Chinese Super League back in 2016, and after Zhejiang lost both of the meetings that season, it is an unwanted record of seven successive defeats that they will be looking to end on their return to the top flight.

Guangzhou City news
Hong Gui was forced off with a knock in the game against Henan last weekend, so Tixiang Li and Chen Zhizhao could be fighting it out for the lone striker role in attack.
Although a five-man defence has failed to perform in the previous matches, Gastel is unlikely to alter his side’s shape much.
Zhejiang Professional news
Haoran Zhong and Yue Xin were both forced out with injuries late on in the game against Dalian Pro on Thursday, with Junsheng Yao and Yu Dong among the options likely to deputise.
The experienced Zimbabwe forward Nyasha Mushkwi and fromer Croatia international Franko Andrijasevic should lead the line once again.
Prediction and Odds
There is not too much to expect between these two struggling sides in the Monday’s contest, which means the game is likely to be a dull one.
While Guangzhou enter the contest following four straight defeats, Zhejiang have recently struggled for results on the road, and we expect a draw to come.
