Guangzhou City will be looking to end their five-game losing streak in the Chinese Super League, when they play host to Changchun Yatai at Mission Hills Football Base Stadium on Friday.

The two teams are heading into opposite directions, with the hosts looking to pick up their first victory in six matches while the visitors are winless in four straight league matches.

Guangzhou City are currently sitting rock bottom on zero points, three points adrift of safety in the early stages.

The Blue Lions suffered a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Zhejiang Professional in their last Chinese Super League game at home, extending their losing streak to five.

Next up is a challenge of an opposing side to whom the fell to a 4-1 defeat at Changchun’s People Stadium earlier this month, and picking up a positive result on Friday seems to be an uphill task for Jean-Paul van Gastel’s side.

Meanwhile, Changchun Yatai played out a goalless draw with Henan Songshen Longmen in their last league match at Mission Hills Football Base Stadium to extend their winless run to four, leaving them in 10th place on six points.

Chen Yang’s side have scored five goals and conceded six through five matches, leaving them trailing third-placed Henan by five points for a spot in the AFC Champions League Qualifiers.

Changchun Yatai have been a threat in the final third courtesy of Long, who has scored on three occasions, including one match-opening goal.
