Grimsby Town have lost four matches in all competitions and will be looking to return two winning ways when the host Halifax Town on Monday.
The hosts are currently 10th in the table, while Halifax are on the quest for promotion as they head into Monday’s encounter sitting second.
Grimsby will be returning to action for the first time since December 18, and they will try to focus beyond their last performance on Monday.
Their last fixture resuted in a disappointing 4-0 away defeat in the FA Trophy against Stockport County, which was their fourth consecutive loss in all competitions.
Grimsby will now be relieved to start the new year with a game on the home turf, after having played three of their last four competitive matches away from home.
The Marines have out up an impressive performance this season at Blundell Park, picking up seven victories from their nine home league matches.
Meanwhile, Halifax are involved in battle for promotion, which sees them enter Monday’s fixture three points behind league leaders Chesterfield.
The Shaymen encountered their promotion rivals in their most recent fixture, and it largely looked like Halifax would take the victory after Matt Warburton had opened the scoring in the 18th minute.
However, Chesterfield equalised in the 85th minute through Jack Clarke to pick up a point, and prevented Halifax from going top of the National League.
Despite that disappointment of conceding against Chesterfield, Pete Wild will be proud of his side who have lost just twice in their last 16 league games.
Having that kind of form that has resulted in Halifax battling it out at the top of the table, and after avoiding defeat in their previous five league matches, the Shaymen will be optimistic that they can collect at least a point at Blundell Park.
