Gremio vs Sport Recife Match Analysis and Prediction

Gremio will be looking to return to winning ways in Brasileiro Serie B when they square off with Sport Recife at the Arena do Gremio in their Matchday 31 tie on Wednesday.

Gremio have made an impressive campaign this season in Brazil second tier as they have managed to claim 50 points from 30 games so far. They currently sit third in the league standings, 15 points off the summit and two points above fourth-placed Vasco da Gama.

They have however been struggling for form recently as they have only managed two wins in their last seven matches, while picking up just one draw and suffering four defeats in the run. the run has been damaging for Gremio as they now sit just five points above fifth-placed Londrina and should it continue they could soon find themselves out of the top four.

They are coming off a 2-0 away defeat to Novorizontino and they will be desperate to bounce back on Wednesday, but have much to amend before the tie.

Meanwhile Sport Recife have also made a good campaign in the Brasileiro Serie B as they have managed to claim 43 points from their 30 matches and currently sit sixth, five points outside the top four places.

Recife are coming off a 1-0 win home win over Bahia, which ended their two-match losing streak in the league. They will now be looking to build on the Bahia victory as they seek to get closer to the promotion places, although they have been struggling on the road lately having failed to none of their last 11 away matches, while losing the last five in a row.

Therefore they have a lot to work on before the clash, but are unbeaten in the last seven against Gremio, picking up four victories in the run, and they will look to draw confidence from that.
