Greece and Kosovo will looking to bounce back as they aim at ending their World Cup qualifying campaigns on winning note when the lock horns in the final World Cup qualifying fixture at the Athens Olympic Stadium on Sunday night with kickoff at 22:45.
The top two places in Group B of the UEFA World Cup qualifiers have already been decided, meaning that the rest of the teams in the group have been eliminated and will only be playing for their pride in their final fixtures. Among these sides are the third-place Greece who have put up a commendable fight having recorded two wins, three draws and two defeats in their seven matches picking up an impressive 2-1 win over Sweden in the process.
The hosts head into the match on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Spain at home last Thursday with Pablo Sarabia’s goal from the spot kick in the first half eliminating John van ‘t Schip’s side from contention to qualify for the 2022 World Cup. The defeat was the second in a row in the qualifying campaign for Greece who will be looking to bounce back and end their campaign on a high.
Meanwhile, Kosovo have been the whipping boys of the group having just recorded one win from their seven matches while have picked up a draw and suffered five defeats in the process and are set to finish the campaign at bottom of the group no matter what transpires in this match.
They head into the final match on the back of a 2-0 defeat to Jordan in an international friendly fixture last Thursday. The defeat was Kosovo’s fourth defeat in a row and they seem to be in for another routine defeat this Sunday.
