Coventry City will be looking to claim their fourth successive victory in the Campionship when they play host to Rotherham United on Tuesday.
Although the hosts remain in the relegation zone with games in hand, they enter the contest as favourites to overcome an inconsisent Rotherham side who currently sit in the mid-table spots in the standings.
Coventry had their own issues with their pitch at the start of the season that not even a three-game winning run has been enough to move them outside of the relegation zone.
However, after weeks of sitting at the bottom of the table, Mark Robins will be pleased with his side’s current placing, a consequence of three victories in matches where they would have been regarded as underdogs.
Off the back of victories over Cardiff City and Sheffield United, Coventry claimed a 2-0 win at Stoke City at the weekend, with Jamie Allen and Gustavo Hamer getting on the scoresheet after the interval.
While Robins will not rest easy until his side steers clear off the bottom three, they are also now just nine points adrift of the playoffs with three games in hand on many of the teams above them.
Meanwhile, Matt Taylor’s Rotherham United have collected a totla of seven points from their five matches since his arrival as the replacement for long-serving Paul Warne.
Before the start of his spell, the former Exeter City manager would have taken that return, but Rotherham failed to build on a two-game winning run at home to struggling Hull City at the weekend.
Despite the seemingly different trajectories of the two teams, Hull scored three times either side of half time on their way to securing a 4-2 victory at the New York Stadium. However, Rotherham still sit closer to the playoff than they do to the relegation zone.
